Abscess

The kid had developed an abscess at withers on the right side where he had sustained an injury from baboon attach. It was drained and local plus systemic treatment instituted for five days.
Abscess was lanced and cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. 600mgs penicillin was injected IM, another SQ and another into the lanced pocket.

Had strayed from Lake Oloiden and found its way to community within the area. He was driven back by use of vehicle. Community had been advised to be alert and report any such occurrence

Was reported unable to ambulate and spending most of the time lying down. It was confirmed to have posterior paralysis caused by trauma of spine at sacrolumbar area.
It was euthanized

Reported to have a long wedge snare wire around its neck. He was desnared by loosening the snoop and taking the wire off the neck. Had not caused traumatic wound
Immobilized using 6mgs Etorphine and 50mgs Azaperone. Revived using 18mgs Diprenorphine into jugular vein

Stray

The two were reported to have strayed from the park to the nearby residential/school area within Nakuru town at about 4.00am. Efforts to capture and translocate were futile as they disappeared in thin air. Their where about is still being sought
It is believed probably they found their way back to the park since they were never spotted again

Hypoglycemia

Reported weak and dehydrated after being recovered from the ditch where it had fallen into. Was rescued and taken to David Sheldrick Orphanage at Nairobi. Its prognosis was guarded if injured and favorable in absence of injury
Was given 100mgs glucose in 10% Dextrose orally.

Darted using 7mgs Etorphine and 50mgs Azaperone. Was revived using 24mgs Diprenorphine.

Penetrating wound

Lame on right forelimb occasioned by a raw penetrating wound at fetlock joint. Was treated locally and systemically. Will be revisited for further consideration because of the guarded prognosis.
Immobilized using 6mgs Etorphine and 60mgs Azaperone. Wound was cleaned using Hydrogen peroxide and Iodine. Wound spray was liberally applied. 6000mgs Tetracycline was injected IM and 20cc pyrethroid applied topically. Was revived by 24mgs Diprenorphine.

Scour

Had scours depicted in only one flock. It was watery greenish with foul smell. The sick were emaciated and dull. They were treated and are under observation
Each darted using 2mgs Etorphine and 10mgs Azaperone. Two received 4cc Norodine SQ& IM while the other received Penicillin same way. Each also got 10cc Multivitamin IM, 20cc Pyrethrin topically and 3cc Ivermectin SQ. Their ears were tagged for post treatment monitoring. Each was revived using 6mgs Diprenorphine IV

Traumatic myiasis seems to have struck again following three weeks of dry weather which is thought to favor its pathogenesis. This eland was not spotted but search continues

Assess their adaptation following translocation. They were found to have adapted well and have begun breeding. All Thompson’s gazelle strayed away from the facility.

Had a circular plain wire on the neck. It was not established where and how it picked it. It was darted and desnared. The steel wire was severed using wire cutter. No traumatic wound had been caused
Darted using 18mgs Etorphine and 60mgs Azaperone. Was revived immediately upon getting down with 150mgs Naltrexone.

Septic Wound

Was treated septic wound on the right scapular side. This was caused by baboon attack. The wound was debrided after dead skin tissue was cut off. Its prognosis is favorable
 It was cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. Healing Oil was liberally applied and wound spray done on wound edges. 800mgs Penicillin was injected intramuscularly

Reported to have strayed up to the location probably from Oserian Game Sanctuary. It was thoroughly searched to no avail. Search continues to find its whereabout
Community around the area was sensitized on the issue and instructed to be vigilant and report immediately when spotted

Was found on the transformer dead. They had been spotted playing on the location with its mother
It was established that it had been electrocuted. Mother sustained burns after escaping death. She will be treated when located

Had been spotted with swollen berry writhing in pain. Postmortem suspected it succumbed to severe flatulent colic as colons were extensively extended

Had been treated of a wound and review was done where a repeat of treatment was carried out after showing positive healing progress. Prognosis now is favorable. First attended on 14/5/2013
Immobilized using 6mgs Etorphine and 40mgs Azaperone. Wound was cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. 3000mgs Penicillin was locally injected under the wound while same was injected in the neck muscles. Tetracycline wound spray was topically applied. Was revived using 18mgs Diprenorphine into jugular vein.

Penetrating Wound

Had sustained a coronet abscess caused by being pierced by acacia thorn on right hind limb. This had been reported as severe lameness
Darted using a mixture of 6mgs Etorphine and 50mgs Azaperone. Torn was carefully removed and coronet abscess lanced and cleaned with hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. Tetracycline wound spray was applied. 6000mgs Penicillin was injected intramuscularly. Was revived using 18mgs Diprenorphine intravenously.

Tumor

Review of a suspected tumor case was carried out. It was established that the tumor had enlarged despite applying a ligature at its ‘foot’ and treatment over two months earlier. She has a foal and another treatment was done with a different drug meanwhile the foal is suckling. She remains under surveillance. First attended on 8/4/13
Immobilized using 6mgs Etorphine and 50mgs Azaperone. 400mgs Sulphonamide was injected locally under the tumor and same intramuscularly. The raw tumor was cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. Healing oil was applied topically and tetracycline spray liberally applied. Was revived using 24mgs Diprenorphine.

Old and debilitated. Reported to have invaded residential compound for the last one week and attacking residents who tried to drive it away. Was euthanized
Darted using 8mgs Etorphine and 120mgs Azaperone. Upon examination tooth were worn down to gum level. 400mgs Sodium Pentobarbitone intravenously was used to euthanize him

Spotted with a long wedge snare wire around the neck dropping downwards about five meters. It was darted and desnared. No traumatic wound was noted
Was darted using 6mgs Etorphine and 40mgs Azaperone. The loop on the neck was loosened and taken off the neck. It was revived using 24mgs Diprenorphine injected into jugular vein.

Reported to have invaded a residential house resulting into fear and panic. It was captured manually and transported in a nylon sac.
It was released at Hells Gate National Park away from residential area

The two were reported to have been abandoned by a white who was residing in the compound but went abroad seven days ago. They are being monitored at Vet Clinic

Fatal car Knock

Reported to have been hit by hit and run vehicle as it closed from KWSTI to Annex. It was left on the side of the tarmac road unable to get up where community wanted to kill and convert it to game meat.
Examination revealed spine injury at lumbar area causing posterior paralysis. It was euthanized to avoid unnecessary suffering and disposed at Annex compound away from community.
