Buffalo Calf-Male

Orphan
|
Reported to have spent a lot of time seeking
attention from dam. No dam was seen interested with suckling it. It was
verified that it had been separated from the dam. The dam is thought to have
been poached for game meat or probably gotten stuck in the mud on shore of
lake Naivasha.
|
By the time it was visited it was seen trying to nib
grass and accompanying a herd where one dam seemed to pay some care and
attention to the calf. Monitoring will be continued to make sure that he
keeps with the pace of the herd. If otherwise he will be rescued and taken to
an orphanage facility.
