|
Noted lame on the right hind limb. This was caused
by a bruise on the medial aspect of the thigh possibly due to fence breaking.
No bone involvement was noted. It was swollen and hot. The bruise was superficial and was sprayed with
topical Tetracycline wound spray
|
Was darted using 15mgs Etorphine and 50mgs
Azaperone. . It was given 100mgs Colvasone intramuscular. It was revived
using 45mgs Diprenorphine and 5mgs Atipamezole intravenous immediately after
getting down.

|
Was reported walking on three limbs while lifting
the left hind limb. It had swinging leg lameness due to fracture of tibio-tarsal
bone.

Immobilized using 3mgs Etorphine and 20mgs xylazine.
Was euthanized using 100mgs Sodium Pentobarbitone intra cardially.

|
Was spotted lying on the road on lateral recumbence.
It had bruises on the
ventral body surface around the sternum. Postmortem revealed that it had been
hit by a blunt object sustaining fracture at the level of sternum.

Snare
|
One was spotted with a single plain wire around the
neck causing strangulation while the other one had wedge snare wire around
the right fore and right hind fetlocks causing severe traumatic wounds and
immobility. It was severed using wire cutter and wounds cleaned with Hydrogen
Peroxide and Iodine. It was smeared with Healing Oil and Tetracycline wound
spray. Each was injected with 80mgs Ivermectin subcutaneously and 100ml
Pyrethrin as pour on.

Each was sedated using 7mgs Etorphine and 60mgs
Xylazine. The wounded one was injected with 15000mgs Long Acting Tetracycline
in the muscle. Each was revived using 28mgs Diprenorphine and 35mgs
Yohimbine.

|
Was found with double plain braided snare wire
around the neck and dangling sideways. The snoop was loosened and taken off
the neck.

It was immobilized using 7mgs Etorphine and 60mgs
Xylazine. It was revived using 28mgs Diprenorphine and 35mgs Yohimbine.

Postmortem
|
Was found dead in the morning despite good feeding
the previous night. Mucus membranes were pale. Postmortem revealed fibrin on
the jejunum and bloody peritoneal fluid. The mid jejunum had intussusception
resulting to perforation and blockage which caused hemorrhage within the
lumen of jejunum. The ostrich died due to shock.

residential area causing panic and fear. It was barely walking due to poor
body condition. It had severely worn out teeth depicting its old age

was euthanized using 4000mgs Sodium Pentobarbitone into jugular vein

Was reported off feed and hyper salivation coupled
with vomiting. On examination rectum was empty and feces depicted melena. It
was slightly dehydrated. It was covered with 4500mgs Amoxicillin, 20ml
Multivitamin intramuscularly. 250ml Dextrose was infused subcutaneously.

Was narcotized using 80mgs Ketamine and 1mg
medetomidine. It was revived after seventy minutes with 20mgs Yohimbine. It
was up within ninety minutes after revival administration.

dropping down about two meters. It was barely tight and resulted to constant
irritation. It was severed using wire cutter. There was no resultant traumatic
wound.

jugular vein.

The three were reported to have invaded greenhouse
area resulting to flower destruction. They were captured and released at
nearby riparian where they were suspected to have come from when electric
fence failed.

Xylazine. Each was revived using 28mgs Diprenorphine and 50mgs Yohimbine
intravenously.

|
Was reported weakling with swollen submandibular
area. It died shortly after darting due to poor anesthetic state. Postmortem
revealed heavy worm load especially in the abomasum and anemic mucus
membranes. The submandibular region revealed pockets of clear fluid which
depicted edema.

Immobilized using 2mgs Etorphine and 20mgs Xylazine.

It was reported with lameness on the right carpus.
On examination it was found to be swollen and warm. It was suspected to have
sustained a kick. 20g Dexamethasone was injected into muscles.

It was revived using 12mgs Diprenorphine and 12mgs Yohimbine intravenously.

It was noted with swollen submandibular area (bottle
jaw), emaciated and lethargy with diarrhea. 80mgs Ivermectin subcutaneously,
12000mgs Tetracycline and 20ml Multivitamin intramuscularly was administered.
100ml Pyrethrin was applied as pour on.

Immobilized using 4mgs Etorphine and 50mgs Xylazine.
It was revived using 12mgs Diprenorphine and 25mgs Yohimbine.

|
Was spotted limping on the left fore limb as a
result of raw wound on the metacarpus medially. It was cleaned using Hydrogen
Peroxide and Iodine. It was sprayed with Tetracycline spray. 30000mgs
Tetracycline was administered intramuscularly.

Immobilized with 7mgs Etorphine and 60mgs Xylazine.
It was revived using 24mgs Diprenorphine and 35mgs Yohimbine into jugular
vein.

The two were noted with greenish matting on the
perineum depicting emaciation and dehydration. Each was injected with 1200mgs
Amoxicillin intramuscular and same was administered subcutaneously. Each also
received 10ml Multivitamin intramuscularly and 50mgs Ivermectin
subcutaneously. 50ml Pyrethrin pour on was also administered.

Each was darted with 3mgs Etorphine and 20mgs
Xylazine. Each was revived using 12mgs Diprenorphine and 12mgs Yohimbine.
Each was notched on the right ear to enable post treatment monitoring

|
One had a snare on the left fore fetlock and the
other had a wound on the right fore fetlock. Snare was severed with a wire
cutter and resultant wounds were cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine.
Then they were sprayed with Healing Oil and tetracycline wound spray. Each
was covered with Pyrethrin pour on.

Each was darted with 6mgs Etorphine and 50mgs
Xylazine. Each was injected with 30000mgs Amoxicillin intramuscular as a long
acting antibiotic. Each was revived using 30mgs Yohimbine and 18mgs
Diprenorphine intravenously

After not been seen for almost two months there was
need to look for it within Oserian. It was found grazing alongside its dam.
It appeared okay. A request will be made to Nairobi Orphanage whether they
have space for it after the one which was there died.

|
Spotted with a circular wound following penetration
of the cuticle towards rear side. It was not raw. It was cleaned with
Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. Penicillin antibiotic cream was infiltrated
into the wound.
