Reported lame and bleeding. It was found to have a
raw wound on the medial fore left quarter. It was not immediately established
what could have caused the trauma. Was cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and
Iodine. It was sprayed with Tetracycline wound spray. Was covered with
15000mgs Amoxicillin and 50ml Multivitamin into muscles.

Darted using 5mgs Etorphine and 50mgs Azaperone. Was
covered with 200ml Pyrethrin as pour on. It was revived using 18mgs
Diprenorphine into jugular farm

Had been desnared a month earlier and needed review
as it was still limping significantly. It was cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide
and Iodine. Was injected with 30000mgs Tetracycline and 50mls Multivitamin
into muscles. Topically the wound was sprayed with Tetracycline wound spray.

Darted with 5mgs Etorphine and 60mgs Azaperone. It
was revived using 12mgs Diprenorphine

Desnaring/Collaboration/Team work
|
|
Team building exercise was carried out between
Naivasha Mobile Vet Unit and African Network of Animal Welfare in which Joint
desnaring exercise was carried out. This was necessitated by the deployment
of the new team by the Non-governmental organization.
|
The Organization did the spotting of the activities
carried out in this date and then called the Unit in which desnaring and
treatment were carried jointly. Contacts were exchanged for any further and
future exercises.

barely tight. It was severed with wire cutter. There was no resultant
traumatic wound. Pyrethrin 200ml was poured along the spine and poll.

It was reversed with 18mgs Diprenorphine into jugular vein

Reported to have strayed into cattle grazing boma
and was found lying down. It was suspected to have injury but when urged to
get up it was established that the night might have fallen before she went
back to the lake.

It was driven away by the vehicle back to the lake
shore away from people reach.

Reported with snare around the left hind metatarsus.
The snare was long entangling the right hind limb resulting to severe
ambulation problem and traumatic wound. Snare was severed with wire cutter
and wound cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. It was later sprayed
with Tetracycline wound spray.

Darted with 5mgs Etorphine and 60mgs Azaperone.
Intramuscularly it was injected with 30000mgs Tetracycline and 50mls Multivitamin.
Was revived with 18mgs Diprenorphine injected into jugular vein after 200ml
Pyrethrin pour on.

The foal was spotted with a plain snare wire around
the neck dropping down through the hind limbs. It was tight but not
strangulating. Was loosened and taken off the neck.

Darted with 2.5mgs Etorphine and 25mgs Azaperone.
100ml Pyrethrin was poured along the spine to act as acaricide. Was reversed
using 12mgs Diprenorphine into jugular vein.

Reported with a severe traumatic wound around the
chest. Examination revealed an embedded snare wire causing bleeding wound and
ventral edema. Snare was severed with wire cutter. Wound was cleaned with
Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine and then topically sprayed with Tetracycline
wound spray.

Darted with 2.5mgs Etorphine and 30mgs Azaperone.
Was injected with 15000mgs Tetracycline and 25ml Multivitamin into muscles.
It was covered with 100ml Pyrethrin as acaricide and to act as fly repellant
to avoid Myiasis.

Reported to have injury on the right gluteus
possibly caused by unsuccessful hyena attack. It was cleaned with Hydrogen
Peroxide and Iodine. It was sprayed with Tetracycline wound spray.

covered with 30000mgs Tetracycline and 50mls Multivitamin into muscles. It
was revived using 18mgs Diprenorphine into jugular vein.

Reported to have strayed into Geothermal Well having
a snare around the neck. It had caused strangulation resulting to swelling of
jugular and neck ventrally. Embedded snare wire was severed with wire cutter,
scab covered wound was cleaned with Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine and sprayed
with Tetracycline wound spray.

Darted with 7mgs Etorphine and 120mgs Azaperone. Was
injected with 30000mgs Tetracycline and 50ml Multivitamin into the muscles.
200ml Pyrethrin was used topically against ticks. It was revived with24mgs
Diprenorphine into jugular vein.

Reported unable to ambulate together with the
family. Was suckling. Darted with 16mgs Etorphine and calf darted with 3mgs
Etorphine. Examination revealed arrow head lodged at mid of the left ear.

It was dislodged and wound cleaned with Hydrogen
Peroxide and Iodine. Cloxacillin antibiotic cream was infiltrated into the
wound. It was injected with 30000mgs Amoxicillin and 100ml Multivitamin into
muscles. The local leading scout confirmed that the arrow must have been
poisonous making prognosis guarded.

They were revived using 40mgs and 20mgs Naltrexone
into ear veins. Security team was instructed to be on lookout for any
possible deterioration of health of the dam and act accordingly.

Examination revealed a wound causing toe deviation. Wound was cleaned with
Hydrogen Peroxide and Iodine. Cloxacillin ointment was smeared topically.
15000mgs Tetracycline and 50ml Multivitamin was injected into muscles. It was
darted with 5mgs Etorphine and 60mgs Azaperone. Was reversed with 20mgs
Naltrexone into jugular vein.

neck. Examination revealed the swelling to have cauliflower like figure. It
was tentatively cancerous and decision to put it down was considered.

It was euthanized using 4000mgs Sodium Pentobarbital into jugular vein. It
was disposed into carcass disposal pit within the farm

Reported to have strayed to a residential area and
unable to get back to lake. It was urged to return to water but was unable.
It was established to have suffered posterior paralysis.

resulted to increased human wildlife conflict. It was seemingly thought to
have been knocked by blunt object on the spine. It was put down using 8000mgs
Sodium Pentobarbitone into crural vein

Postmortem revealed hematuria, bloody nasal
discharges and carcass was in good body condition. Hemorrhages of different
sizes were noted both externally and internally. There was hemoperitoneum and
hemothorax. This pointed out to unspecific poisoning probably by ingestion of
poisonous plants or venominosis. Surveillance was instituted for any further
deaths

The baboon had been reported more than thrice and
all incidents had been responded to. This particular troop is very scared of
any human or vehicle approach. Any attempt to dart hence has always proved
futile.

The snare which is plain wire is barely tight but is
acting as nuisance as she spends most of time trying to relive her. More
attempts will be made until it is successfully desnared.

whereby no dam and babies plus any other malformed subjects qualified.

It was covered with 3000mgs Amoxicillin and 20ml Multivitamin into muscles.
It was reversed with 20mgs Naltrexone and 62.5mgs Yohimbine into crural vein.

right hind limb metatarsus. It was tight resulting to slight lameness. It was
loosened and taken off the limb after it was roped down when it begun to star
gaze.

There was no resultant traumatic wound. It was revived using 36mgs
Diprenorphine immediately it went down into jugular vein.

were successfully received at the facility.

These were trapped and transported to Naivasha Vet
Unit for sampling. Each was held against the wall of the trap by tail and
sedated with 15mgs/kg Ketamine live wait into muscles. Each was sampled for
whole blood from femoral vein.
|
Each was examined for any injury and or any
ectoparasite. Any wound was cleaned with Iodine and sprayed with Tetracycline
wound spray. Also any such injured got a cover with between 75-100mgs
Amoxicillin into muscles. They were translocated to KARI-Muguga on 18/3/2015
all successful.

The four were selected for hemoparasite surveillance
because of emaciation and alopecia. The test will be geared to protozoa
evaluation genetically. One had been desnared previously resulting to
contracture of the affected limb as depicted by the picture aside.

Each was darted with 3.5mgs Etorphine and 30mgs
Azaperone. Each was boosted with 8mgs Ivermectin subcutaneously, 50ml
Multivitamin and 15000mgs Tetracycline intramuscular. Monitoring will
continue to record response to administered boosters.

It was reported to have resurfaced after a futile
desnaring attempt. It had two wedge snares one around the neck and another
around the left fore fetlock. All were tight but had not caused traumatic
wounds. Both were loosened and taken off the neck and limb

Was darted with 10mgs Etorphine and 150mgs
Azaperone. It was revived using 36mgs Diprenorphine into jugular vein.

|
Hippo was electrocuted by the camp fence. The work
hands immediately started to enjoy game meat harvesting when it was reported.
The scene was visited and called in Naivasha Station for necessary action to
be taken.

14 suspects were arrested and aligned in court. The
facility was instructed to construct a repulsive fence by connecting to right
voltage to avoid future electrocution cases.

A request was made by licensing office kws Hqs for
inspection to be made and recommendations made concerning request by the
founder of Sanctuary for some raptors in the facility to be declared permanent
unreleasable because of their inability to fend for themselves or fly

Each bird was inspected as per provided list and
recommendation attached against each. All qualified while the second list
also was inspected and remains under observation as they recover from injury
awaiting decision to be made later whether releasable or not.

Was reported to have gotten stuck in mud near a
water hole on a dry river bed. It had spent overnight in the mud making it
suffer numbness especially of posterior end. It was pulled out of the mud
using rope manually

It was left to recover from numbness on sternal
recumbence. This was occasioned by dry spell as river run dry and as forage also ran out
|

The female buffalo was found to have stuck in a
ditch full of mud covered with hyacinth. It was pulled out with the help of
sling anchored on to the vehicle.

It was left to recover while on sternal recumbence
as prognosis was favourable.
